Tygpress.com was founded in June 2018 and is an aggregating site with posts from many of our blogs as its total content. At the time of this writing, the site is blocked and all you will see if you go to Tygpress.com is the statement I’ve included above.

So many kind and concerned bloggers have sent me alerts, which I appreciate. Thank you! Every post of mine was appropriated. I know it’s disconcerting (angering) and frustrating. This is not an expert opinion, but I have to say first that I think our copyrights are intact. I don’t think that’s an issue, though understandably it’s a primary concern. I noted that wherever there was a copyright notice by the content originator, it was included. On my site, I make conspicuous use of copyright for my own work and that of others and for this very reason. I have no worries about my fellow poets, writers and bloggers, it’s these wild-cards that come up that are a concern.

I am as I write this awaiting an update from WordPress, which I’ll add to this post when and if one comes in. Having said that, Tygpress.com is not hosted by WordPress, so WordPress can’t take down the site. There are probably some things it can do. I hope we’ll find out. Meanwhile …

The site is owned by a gentleman from Kamataka, Bengaluru, India. It purportedly earns $24.00 U.S. a day and has an estimated value of $8,640.00 U.S. according to a couple of website stat and valuation sites and who knows how accurate these are.

Morning comes in gentle whispers, soft refrains
A fresh light peeks in around the blinds

From someplace the sound of baby murmur,
but that sweet boy is grown and gone away
I reach for the man and with relief remember,
now he’s another woman’s Sisyphean task
The cat, I move to pull her plump and furry
body into the cuddle of my arms, but her dust
sits in a wooden box on my bedside table
Slowly orienting to time and place, I rise
I spark to the spirit of my several selves
I stretch and yawn my way into this new day
The good yesterday has faded in time and
tomorrow is a promise that may not keep, But look! This bright morning has arrived . . .

“So many more women have found now their voice. Let’s celebrate poets who excite us, from Emily Bronte (say) to Jorie Graham (say). We can also start thinking seriously about differences and about inflated reputations. Let’s be wary about ‘celebrity status’. This tends to narrows true appreciation. Read voraciously. Include lesser known poets and dead poets. SECOND LIGHT POETRY COMPETITION is open for entries of poetry by women on August 6th. The competition includes first prizes for best long length poem [no length limit] and best short length poem, as well as 2nd and 3rd prizes and commendations publication in ARTEMISpoetry magazine for all these [or extracts in the case of long poems]. UPDATE: I’ve published the announcement on this competition twice, once HERE and then again yesterday included in Opportunity Knocks. According to the guidelines HERE: “Poems on any subject. Must be the unaided work of the writer and must not have been previously published unless in a magazine only.” I asked for clarification and Myra Schneider and Dilys Wood confirmed that “magazine” includes Zines and personal blogs. Good news for those of us who publish online and have been included in digital publications. Note the deadline is August 4th but you may submit via email, so go for it. Good luck.

Poems by women of any age. Poems should be typed, or if written, then very neatly. Each poem should commence on a new page, headed “Submission for ARTEMISpoetry”. Please SEND TWO COPIES. Do include your name with each poem and include your name and full contact details in your submission. Long poems are considered. Submit up to 4 poems to a maximum of 200 lines in all. Our line counts are for poem (and any footnote) text lines only, so excluding titles and breaks.
Contributors whose poetry is accepted will be notified by 31st October 2019.

It looks like this year’s 100TPC will be bigger and better than last!! So far nearly 300 events have been confirmed for 2019!
As many of you know, we have added the “Read a Poem To a Child” Initiative to 100TPC options. Last year, this initiative was very successful and over 2000 people signed up to share poetry with children during the week prior to the global day. Also, because of our collaboration with Florida State University Libraries, we were able to offer a free pdf collection of poems for children to support your effort. We have updated that collection and will make it available upon request to those who wish to make use of it.
This year “Read a Poem To a Child” will take place between September 23-28.
Finally, if you are unable to organize an event during the above-listed dates, feel free to set a date that will work best for your community. Let us know when that will be and you will be included in the list of “Read a Poem to a Child” participants.
