“There is no doubt fiction makes a better job of the truth.” Under My Skin: Volume One of My Autobiography, to 1949, Doris Lessing
SIX FOLD FICTION AND POETRY CONTEST
I keep meaning to try this one out. It’s different and it sounds like fun, so while I can’t recommend it yet from personal experience, I think it’s one to consider.
- It’s participatory. Contributing writers read and vote.
- It’s only $5 for the entry. Totally reasonable for many people.
- You get feedback from other writers.
- Cash award.
- Publication.
- Deadline: January 24.

“What if our religion was each other. If our practice was our life. If prayer, our words. What if the temple was the Earth. If forests were our church. If holy water–the rivers, lakes, and ocean. What if meditation was our relationships. If the teacher was life. If wisdom was self-knowledge. If love was the center of our being.” Ganga White, teacher and exponent of Yoga and founder of White Lotus, a Yoga center and retreat house in Santa Barbara, CA
“Every pair of eyes facing you has probably experienced something you could not endure.” Lucille Clifton
