the heat and humidity
the day oppressed by the sun
the night sky is overcrowded
the pitted moon superfluous
i’d rather be cool
a blue lotus, floating
on a shimmering pond
a soulful thing,
solitary by day, and
in the cool night
eyes relieved of
the unremitting sun

Cool, blue lotus…….beautiful spirit. The pond……perhaps the tea house in SF Golden Gate Park?

Good guess, but this is a tea garden in Central Park, San Mateo, CA.

I’D RATHER BE COOL
“Ah, what we’d rather be”
But don’t let us go there
We’ve been here a long time
And we know where that leads

Oh how you have captured how I have felt the last week or two here.
