the wheat has ripened, the lavender is fading
white jasmine breaths into grey signs of rain
in your lively days, you were light and laughter
now i know you as a shadow across the face of the moon,
an empty house in my heartland

Just beautiful. For me, it brought to mind my aging parents and their on and off struggles. Thank you for giving it words.

Ah, well it was my parents, husband and sister I was thinking of when I wrote this. Some other family as well. Thank you for letting me know it touched you.

Part of what it means to be human, to love and live. I think human beings are remarkable for their ability to reach out and love even though they know it’s all going end.
