Read a Poem to a Child: 100TPC Global Initiative
THERE’S JOY IN READING POETRY TO OR WITH CHILDREN: It’s an activity that facilitates the developement of language and creative writing skills, helps children with their reading abilities, enhances cognitive and emotional and social development. It provides children with a lifelong love, a livelong source of joy, inspiration and comfort. / J.D.
Dear Poets and Poetry Lovers,
Will you read a poem to a child on September 29 as part of the 100 Thousand Poets for Change Global initiative “Read A Poem To A Child?”
This seems to be an important year to highlight the significance of children in the world. We are increasingly aware of their fragility. It is time to take a moment in this busy, crazy life we live, and share something we cherish.
Poetry is our gift.If you will read a poem or poems to a child or children on September 29, please post “I’m in!” and your city name as a comment to this post.
If you are going to read poetry as part of your participation in 100,000 Poets (and friends) for Change (100TPC), please let Michael know via 100tpc communication hub on Facebook and include your location. As an alternative, you can leave you name and place in the comments section below and I’ll be sure to pass it on to Michael. Thank you! You’re participation and support is appreciated.
You don’t have to host an event to participate in this initiative but just FYI: some areas are wrapping their 100TPC event around reading to children.
Note: The Poet by Day, Sunday Announcements will post later today.
