“. . . weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5, King James
moon-dazzle filters through
the blinds on the other side
of midnight, colonizing the
bedroom with tawny strips
of muted light, spilling a tune
across the kitty’s fur, adding
some jazz to the homely
bed covers and each note
a reminder of that ancient
contract: darkness may endure
through the night, but joy
comes with the morning
